HMCS Toronto (FFH 333) is a Halifax-class frigate that has served in the Canadian Forces since 1993. Toronto is the fourth ship in her class which is the name for the Canadian Patrol Frigate Project. The Halifax-class frigates were designed as a general purpose warship with particular focus on anti-submarine capabilities.
In its history, HMCS Toronto has been deployed to the Adriatic Sea, Portugal, the Persian Gulf, the Caribbean Sea, the Mediterranean, the Arctic, and the North Sea. On one significant tour HMCS Toronto was deployed to the Gulf of Mexico to aid the United States in their response to the flooding of New Orleans by Hurricane Katrina.
When not on operations she is assigned to Maritime Forces Atlantic (MARLANT) and is based at CFB Halifax. Thousands of proud men and women have served aboard this vessel over its career in the North Atlantic and further afield.
